On Sunday I reinstalled v2 and made sure everything was running properly.  Yesterday I reinstalled v30133.

The default anti-spam showed this in the Preferences > Plug-Ins :
Generic plug-in
STATUS - error
DLL PATH c:\Program Files\Bayes Filter Plugin\BayesFilter.tbp

I have no idea how it came up with that path.

But I left that and added Bayes Filter Plugin by Achim Winkler.  So far that part seems OK.

Next Problem.
The Bat is not properly collecting mail from the server.  Example at 11:07 this morning - Connection Center indicated 6 messages; Status Window indicated 0 messages; actually collected 1 message.

As I have direct access to my server I checked and found : gordon@xxx.com - 2 messages; gordonblack@xxx.com - 5 messages; shamin@xxx.com - 1 message.

Irritants.
1. Collection Center window rarely closes automatically.
2. Column widths cannot be adjusted (subject, received, created, etc)
3. Can only close The Bat using Task Manager.  When I try to do normal exit, it tells me it is performing active tasks.  Close when finished 'yes' or 'abort' have no effect.

Without really intending this to sound as sarcastic as it seems, I feel that since I purchased v3, I am already a Beta Tester.

My own programming experience goes from the days of cp/m in the late 1970's to the present, and I can honestly say that I have never put an application into the hands of a user that has so many basic problems.

Ever since I first got involved with the internet about 10 years ago, I have heard that the best email client available is The Bat.  My experience with v3 has so far been a huge disappointment - and so far a huge time-eater.

Did you remove BayesIt! from the list of anti-spam plugins?

When there is no anti-spam filtering, the BayesIt! plugin is active anyway.

Trying enrolling the beta series is a good idea as well. But please refrain from discussing the beta version in the current forum, because all the beta issues are being discussed in the BETA discussion list.

Uninstalled The Bat this morning. Rebooted computer (Win2K).  Re-installed The Bat

Entered info for my most important email address - no problem.
Entered licence information(v30133 Ithink it said) - no problem
Changed view - no problem
Closed The Bat - no problem

Attempted to re-open so I could add my other email accounts, add anti-spam - Got the SAME DAMN ERROR

'Access violation at address 00791278 in module thebat.exe. Read of address 0000023C'

What is the solution here?  Go back to v2? Go back to Outlook?  Or is there going to be a new release that solves the major problems that are turning up, not just mine, but the others that are shown in these forums as well.

I had a similar problem upgrading from TB v2 to v3 and I fixed it by re-installing it with the bayestit plugin (anti-spam)

In my case the error used to happen every now and then, not when I was trying to open TB. But maybe it helps.

Once again, for the second time this week, I am getting this error when I try to open The Bat :

'Access violation at address 00791278 in module thebat.exe. Read of address 0000023C

This is with no anti-spam filtering, no anti-virus checking (which defeats the whole purpose of purchasing The Bat)

I have tried the repair option with the install, but it didn't help.

Just before I started getting the error message it was not properly checking my 13 boxes, and the connection center did not close.

Is it time to find another email client that is reliable or can something be seriously done to debug V3.01 ?

My business depends on email and I cannot go on with a piece of software such as this, which I had been told was one of the best on the market.
