Dude, I had that Comodo FW for a while. It didn't stop The Bat! but did randomly shut down my computer. That program is a nightmare. You might try uninstalling it and see if that helps. I know you said you shut it down with no effect so maybe I'm crazy.
set your AV app not to check the email traffic, at least the outgoing traffic if the problem appears only with sending. Leave the port opened in the firewall.

Don't stop them, because many AV & firewall apps can't be truly stopped - if you do so they still mess around.

Sorry, big mistake in my last post. TB worked fine for about 1 hour and now does not connect to any server anymore. I have switched off everything that I can but still in will not connect, even after booting again.

Does anyone have any idea why?

I am getting desperate!
I have tried re-booting. I have switched of the Comono Fire Wall.. none of these worked.

I then tried switching off my AVG antivirus program and suddenly emails would send again. So I tried switching it on again and I can still send emails.. The funny thing is that I have tried to re-boot and this did not solve the problem. I have been using AVG with the Bat for some time with no problems.

Very odd. It seems to work again. I will give it some time to test and will report back to the forum if this has now solved the problem.

Thanks for your help.
What does your protocol log say in those cases?
Since upgrading to 3.99.24 I have been getting this error message very intermittently, but sometimes for hours.. I noticed another poster had had the same problem, but he seems to have resolved the problem by fiddling with his Karpasky FireWall.

I have the same problem, but am not using Karpasky but Comodo instead. Shutting down Comodo completely makes no difference.

The strange thing is that I get the error message when accessing web based email accounts while traveling or from within my office network. Accessing my local email server in the office I never have a problem. This little server is very fast and local.

It almost seems that The Bat is timing out prematurely. When using a very slow WiFi internet connection in France last week I could hardly send any emails. I would have to keep trying to send about 50 times before it would suddenly work. Very annoying and many emails that were fairly urgent to send did not get sent. My communication with supplier and customers alike became all confused.

I am not sure if TB is timing out as it sometimes sits and spins for a while before coming back with the error message.

What might be the problem? Has something changed in the 3.99.24 version?
