I have just had a working answer to this problem.

Don't hit <enter> at the end of the line, but <upper-case>+<Enter>

It works, but surely the power's that be should be able to solve this problem through an easy-to-use switch!!

George
This problem has been bugging me for years too.

It can be reconstructed by sending mails to anyone using Googlemail as a client.

I really regret having payed for an update to V.4.x as that problem is still not fixed.

The first mention on this forum is from 2005!! Who says the IT branch is progressing!

George
It does not always seem to happen and I have never figured out what the circumstances are for it happening, however it seems to be common when forwarding HTML formated emails. I have had email trails that have gone backwards and forwards with colleagues where each round adds new blank lines. Sometimes I can have up to 10 blank lines between each line of text. Not very professional and people ask me what "bloody home brew email client" I am using..

Why the editor adds these lines is a mystery to me. It eve adds them when the text is continuous. In other words, the line break in the text editor (and not a formatted line break) still causes a line to be added. This suggests a bug in TB and not some sort of "feature".

This has been complained about for years. If anyone has a solution I would be very grateful..

Another very irritating bug is that when forwarding or replying to HTML emails the text type and size cannot be changed without "mark all, change all to another fond, mark all again, change back to the desired font, mark all again, change point size to another point size, mark all again, change to desired point size.." This wastes me so much time every day.

Still, we put up with these irritations for the sake of a bullet proof program. I have some 85,000 emails in my Bat now and it is still fast and great to work with.

Thomas
Hi Thomas, thank you for your reply.
I found a solution. . ..writing in text mode

Seriously, I use TheBat since many years but today I have to use it in a professional context, so I cannot afford to send emails poorly formatted.
You are not alone my friend.. We have been moaning about this for years. Someone said this was unavoidable, but it would seem possible to add some sort of smart filter to stop this happening.

That and HTML in email templates..

And the poor test editor..

The rest of TB is of course inspired and bullet proof!

Thomas
