Also, try telling the person who is sending the emails to you to go into the setting of their MS Outlook program and change them to only send native format attachments. I cannot remember the setting, and it varies from version to version of Outlook. However it should not be too difficult to figure out.

You could of course convince them not to use Outlook and move to more compliant program.. such as The Bat for instance.

windat, I believe, is an attempt by Microsoft to own the email client industry and one more reason to join the Underground movement.

Thomas
try free Winmail Opener, this is much better than Fentun, which has problems under XP and Vista

<noindex>http://www.eolsoft.com/freeware/winmail_opener/</noindex>
No, it's a proprietary format, so TB can't decode it.

However there used to be a free tool called fentun (or something like it) that decodes windat.dat files.
Google for fentun or for windat and decode and you'll find something appropriate to download.
I am receiving attachments, presumably from Outlook users, as windat.dat files. I can only decode them by re-forwarding the the message to an e-mail address using Outlook.(I use Windows Vista)

Is there a way to configure The Bat to decode automatically?
