No, IMAP protocol handling in The Bat still is very flaky
Now (in 4.0.18) there is another problem: I've created filter to move certain messages into another folder (in current mailbox). Right after the program start it works fine: message dissappears from "Inbox" folder and appears into my folder. But after some time messages stops to dissappear from "Inbox" folder (but they still appears in other folder). Also I can't delete those messages from "Inbox" by "Del" key (only Shift+Del works). Re-filter command not works: it's dialog says "Messages filtered: 1", but message not changes it's location...
After program restart all works fine (for some time).
Anyone have same problem?
I am still trying to use IMAP folder with the Bat but it is really not so easy ...

I am getting problem with number of messages unreaded (show a number in top folder, but non in the folder where the message is).

I am a TheBat user since versione 2.x (with Pop/SMTP), but I have to say the Thunderbird do a better job with IMAP.

Hello,

I'm trying to use GMAIL with TB IMAP, but might just give up unless someone can help.

I have about 10k messages total in several folders and performance is horrible. At startup (and afterwards every now and then) TB starts to thrash the hard disk, which makes TB unresponsive and the whole system sluggish for about a minute. There's zero indication as to what it is actually doing. It might be my IMAP settings, but I have no idea what to change, settings are way too complicated IMO.

I also noiced that when I first set UP IMAP, TB downloaded only about 70-80% of my messages from the GMAIL server. This means that many messages are present on the web interface but absent in TB.

I also have another IMAP account which I'm trying to use just as a "forwarder" to a POP account (to download mail and move some of it to the POP account - don't ask why, I have my reasons). The filters often don't work, e.g. TB says "5 msgs filtered", while it actually doesn't move the messages.
Hello All,

I have TB Pro 4.0.14 and also have IMAP issues.

I need IMAP so I am using the program I bought TB for to get away from them, Outlook. I'm trying to connect to an IMAP4 server with the latest version of the Bat. If it connects, all is well, but 90% of the time it cannot connect and disconnects everyone on our LAN from the Internet. This does not make people happy. Is anyone else having this problem?
ok, with a new imap account that connects to the same server, does it work with that? (if it does I'd rather copy/paste all the templates than mess around with a not working account)
Doesn't work with 4.0.14 either. Same problem: Folders get duplicated and all folder are 'virtual'.

There are no connection to the IMAP except the initial login and (sometimes) a check on the INBOX
Or better yet -- try to copy / move emails between IMAP folders. Can you say does not work properly?

Nevermind using any Office filters other than basic between IMAP / POP (move an email from a IMAP folder to POP works, but the other way tends to generate errors and duplicates. Sync of IMAP is not reliable.

If the xheader for xmailer is deactivated, do not try to bounce an email from IMAP to another account - it gets added. Then people with Barracuda SPAM filters will not get the email -- it is considered SPAM.

Looks like they have a new release up - 4.0.11. Doesn't do a thing for IMAP, still screwed up.
I have the same problem as Jim, the imap implementation is totally screwed now.
Even if I make a complete clean and brand new install, I have folders visible 3 for 4 times instead of one.
It is no longer usable.
I have the same problem. That was the fastest new software evaluation I've ever done. Why do they even have an IMAP option - it just plain does not work. Uninstalled 15 minutes after installing.

The UI really looks good, and lots of options, but none of that matter's if it won't actually check your mail.

It sees the IMAP folders from my server, so I know that it is connecting, but it won't download any mail in any of the folders, and whenever I do any folder operations, I get a new copy of all the IMAP folders. And they are all empty too.

Did they think to test IMAP support before releasing this product?

The poor IMAP support is what makes me keep unloading the application.

Even with version 3.99.xx there are sync issues, purge compress causes partxx.bin files.

Was hoping that IMAP issues would be addressed. Looking at the release there does not seem to be any IMAP improvements.

Hopefully this can be addressed.
What a mess. Upgraded to version 4.07. Looks like it screws up IMAP folders. It does not sync them all and every time I try to sync or reset the folders, all it does is create a duplicate folder.

For example, say I have the following folders:

Family
Friends
Work
Stuff

All of those folders are subscribed and supposed to be synced. I tried different syncing options - headers only, full message, etc. It never retrieves any messages for those folders. Instead it creates another folder so it looks like this:

Family
Family
Friends
Friends
Work
Work
Stuff
Stuff

Each and every time I try syncing the folders, it adds another duplicate. I now have 5 copies of each blank folder.

I go back into Thunderbird and everything is as it should be.
