Thank you for the answers.

Rick G, I am going to follow your suggestion, from a UI standpoint I don't see any benefit in displaying an error message (message not loaded) when selecting the thread header.

I guess I'll wait for 4.1 or higher before deleting my Bat 3.X install.

Thanks
To expand threads you can also use the Ctrl-* shortcut, that expands all threads in the selected folder when you've got the focus on the message list. When focus is on the account tree pane, then the folder tree will be expanded.
No way that I am aware of to restore the Bat v3 behavior. If you feel that it is a bug, fill out a report in the bug tracker and post the URL here and/or in the beta group for confirmation

There is no way I am aware of to remove the lines between accounts on the account tree. There is a new interface coming in v 4.1 I am told so it is probably going away anyway

I have another thread view related question.

The default behavior in The Bat 3.x when clicking on the thread header was to show the latest message in that thread.

In The Bat 4.0 I see a message saying "message not loaded". As a result to view any message within a thread I must first expand the thread and then click on a message.

Is there any way to restore The Bat 3.0 behavior?

Also is there a way to remove the divider lines that show between each thread and between each account?

thanks for your help
Go to the top message in the thread
You can use [control][shift] with the keys but it will only open and close the level it is on and all levels below, not the entire thread if there are levels above. I believe it is working as designed.

If it closed an entire thread while you had the focus on a message a couple of levels down, it would have to highlight a different message
Thanks, but that does not completely expand the thread - it only opens the next level.

I'm looking to completely expand the tree so all the messages are visible.
often times (especially on longer threaded messages) I would like to do something like right click on the thread and select something like "Expand thread" to have it completely expanded. The closest I could find is a setting to default show threads as collapsed or expanded (which I have set to collapsed), but could not find something to expand on a per-thread basis.

Is there something in TB that I missed or is this option just not available?

Thank you for your help in advance.
