to filter Russian spam make a filter like
Message source -> match -> charset=koi8|charset="koi8|charset=Windows-1251|charset="Windows-1251

This will not filter utf-8 encoded messages.

1251 will filter not only Russian but most mails that use a Cyrillic alphabet (unless utf-8 encoded).

To use Russian words in filters, try pasting the words in Notepad and save the file as utf-8. Then copy from Notepad and paste in filter conditions. I'm not sure to what extent theBat supports utf-8/unicode as my filters are only for English words.
I have been experimenting with just using the sorting office to filter junk mail, at work I get a lot of messages written in Russian, so I copied and pasted certain characters into several if Subject/Body -> contains -> these characters. This worked OK, and some messages were filtered by this, but on checking further, I could see that some messages had been missed although they had those characters in them. I rechecked my filters and found that all the special Russian characters had turned to question marks "?". Is The Bat! not able to hold special characters in its filters? Does anyone know a workaround for this?

Can anyone recommend a good anti-spam plugin? I am interested in finding out about both free and paid for versions...

Thanks.
