Mark

Thank you so much for your reply. I tried the ticker tape option and it does provide a partial solution which I can live iwth .... thank you so much.

I'm completely lost on your description regarding templates. The documentation is even more confusing. How do I do all that you mentioned? (sorry for sounding stupid)

1. Personalities is embedded into the Template system in TB. You can define custom templates in the Address Book and attach them to groups and to individuals. The templates define the message formatting including signature and the macro system allows you to pull in account data, address book data and even other templates. This allows complete automation of the personality aspect and renders the concept pretty much void.

2. I use the mail ticker in TB. While this may seem a bit intrusive, I keep it very small and off to one side of the screen. When new mail arrives, the ticker comes up. Double click the ticker and you get a "Browse Ticker Messages" window. This is all of your unread / new mail in a single virtual folder.

3. There is the possibility if using custom icons and skins with TB. It's a bit beyond me though. I'll leave that one to someone else.

I know this doesn't give you complete equivalents to the functionality you are looking for, but it should give you pretty close results.

Hope it helps.
After 14 years of using Eudora I'm finally migrating, mainly because Eudora keeps giving me a fatal error in Windows Vista and I have no idea how to fix it. That said, it's probably time to make the move anyway as Eudora is no longer supported, but with years of email saved, the move is not easy. Given the choice I'd still go back to Eudora despite it's limited functionality.

I'm having some major problems with The Bat with reference to a couple of features that I relied heavily on in Eudora but can't seem to replicate in The Bat! Any help is much appreciated.

1. Personalities. Eudora allows a whole bunch and I would have mail sent to different personalities (each with a different signature) go to different mailboxes, but all under the same "account". I'd be able to reply to an email with a different personality by just clicking on it form the pulldownn menu and the mail would go WITH the relevant signature. With The Bat, I have to create seperate accounts which is a problem. Can I create "personalities" in The Bat! like Eudora?

2. Checking Mail: In Eudora when I check mail, I usually close all the mailboxes first and then the mailboxes with new email pop open thereby making it clear where the new mail is. (I have many filters in place which shunt mail into different mailboxes). In The Bat! it becomes difficult to know where the new mail is. I realize that the mailboxes list will show boxes with new mail BUT unless since I always have unread mail in each box (who reads everything!), it's difficult to know where the truly NEW mail is unless I explore each mailbox. This gets tedious. Any way to work around this in The Bat!

3. Replied Mail: Eudora displays very good (albeit simple) icons to mark read mail. In The Bat! the icons are terrible - a greened out corner of an envelope is hardly visible. Can this be changed?

These are some of the issues I'm having. I'll be very grateful for help as I do want to make the migration and purchase the registered version of the software.

Fahim Jafary
