Yahoo and Hotmail are web based mail providers that means that they don't offer POP3 or IMAP to download messages, nor do they offer SMTP options in order to send mail.
There used to be something like web2pop that installs as a POP3 proxy on your system and offers a solution for this.

I have tried doing both the free yahoo and hotmail accounts wih the BAT but will not connect.
What are the settings to access yahoo and hotmail.
