Saw something like this before, had something to do with an account.flb file that couldn't be overwritten for the problem account.
Close TB
Go to your mail directory and then to the account that has problems (In case you don't know where to find your mail directory, look for the right location in: Options -> Preferences -> System -> Mail Directory)
Rename the account.flb file to account.flb.old
(In case you're using an encrypted message base, rename the file account.efb to account.efb.old)
Don't touch any other file.
Start TB
Maybe you need to press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-L another time, but that might not even be necessary.
I had tried the various TB4.0x versions and had to revert to TB3.99.29 each time due to crashes, exception errors etc. Recently I tried again with the latest verion (4.0.28.3 Pro) and decided to keep it as I only got one exception error.

But now I have another problem:

For some reason that I don't understand I "lost" all my folders a few days ago except for the default ones (inbox, trash etc).

I say "lost" because I recovered/found them again with Shift-Alt-Ctrl-L BUT on closing and restarting The Bat only the default ones are visible again

I can find them everytime with Shift-Alt-Ctrl-L but it is extremely frustrating!

How can I make the settings permanent again?

Even better, can anyone figre out what the heck can be the cause of this problem?

I tried reinstalling 4.0.28.3 Pro from scratch and restoring the Account properties, Address Book and Messages (not global settings) from a backup. The folders appeared normally as they should but were "lost" on exiting TB and I had to "recover" them again

The same (message-attachements) backup works just fine on my 2nd PC at home without any problems - I synchronise my work and home TBs this way as I have always done and the problem is NOT transfered.
