Okay - but it becomes less ridiculous when you consider that there are a finite set of combinations of sort order and that you can "splatter paint" view assign to a batch of folders using the "Copy column settings to...".

Believe me! You'd have hated the previous method of setting up this kind of thing before view modes existed.

Only by doing a "Mark all" and then a "Mark selected messages read" (Ctrl-A Ctrl-M).

No, but if you make a mistake, you should be able to fish the deleted messages back from the Trash folder easily enough.

i've been using the bat! 3.01 for a short time and have a few 'newbie' questions.  please accept my apologies if there is an easy solution for any of my 'problems'.

1.  cursor placement in the message list is sticky (e.g., it stays on the last message read) between sessions.  is there a way to configure non-sticky cursor placement where the cursor defaults to the top message in every list when the bat! is opened?

2.  changing sortation in one message list changes sortation for all message lists that share the same view.  is there any way to prevent this?  ideally, sortation would be specific to individual message lists and not linked by way of a view.

3.  the file attachment pane pops up on the left side of the message.  can it be configured to appear the message?

4.  confirmation is required for 'mark all messages read' - is there a way to turn this off?

5.  confirmation is not required for deleting messages - is there a way to turn this on?

6.  i use a filter to redirect certain messages but the messages get only as far as my outbox and require a manual send.  this is true whether the filter is set to send generated messages 'immediately' or 'accordingly to the account settings' with transport delivery type set to 'immediate'.  i have a full-time internet connection.
