Restoring TheBat configuration from the folder in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
what's inside the subdirectories named as accounts?
In each account subdir there should be subdirs named like folders defined in the account. In each such folder, there should be 2 files named messages.tbb and messages.tbi (or .ebb and .ebi, if you used encryption)
Is it so ?

Does the registry path match the main folder path?
Do you see old accounts or not?
If not, try creating a new account named as one of the old ones

Are encryption settings now the same as before?
If you used encryption before, you should use it now as well, with the same password.
If you didn't use encryption before, you shouldn't use it now either.
AFAIK encryption usage can only be defined at install time and can't be changed afterwards.
To switch encryption<-->no encryption, you should uninstall theBat, delete the above registry key, and install again specifying the other setting.
I've got the main directory with all the subdirectories named as accounts.
What files have you got, the whole mail directory or only a subdirectory (or more)?
You can recognize the whole mail directory, because it's a directory with a subdirectory for every account you had and those subdirectories have the same names as the accounts.
Unfortunatly, this won't work for me - files just do not load - I had this set up from the very beginning and it still can't "catch" the right configuration.
close theBat, open Regedit and go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!\
In the right pane locate "Working directory" and change the path to the folder where the files are. Then start theBat and all should be OK.

Alternatively in theBat click Options -> Preferences.
Click System on the left, and for 'Mail Directory' select the folder where the files are.
After I'd had to format the drive on which I stored the TheBat configuration and messages I could not restore them - is it possible while having only the folder (I managed to copy it), not a compressed back-up file? If so, what should I do? (I use the 3.5.22 version)
