Keyboard shortcuts for spell checker?

 Thanks for the hint. I experimented a bit and found that it is not possible to add a shortcut to choose the first suggestion.

You can add one to open the "Suggest more..." window, but there is a bug. If you use the shortcut it replaces the last typed word, not the misspelt word. For example, if I type:

milenium bug []

[] is where the cursor is. I then press the shortcut, it opens the window, I press enter to accept the first suggestion and it replaces "bug" with millennium:

milenium millennium []
There are shortcuts for the spell checker and you can edit them.
Open the message editor
View -> Toolbars -> Customise... -> Shortcuts
Look for the menu option that you want to assign a shortcut to.
I don't think it's possible to assign shortcuts to individual words, but I think it should be possible to assign shortcuts to actions like 'ignore' and 'add to dictionary'.
Are there any keyboard shortcuts for the spelling checker?

The help file says you can edit shortcuts with View|Edit Shortcuts, but it does not appear on any of the menus.

In particular, a keyboard shortcut to choose the default correction for the last mis-spelt word would be really handy. That way 90% of mistakes could be corrected without having to take my hands off the keyboard.
