the bat pet peves after almost 10 years of using thebat! in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
The first time I tried to apply column widths to all, it didn't work either. Then I experimented and found when you select all, it doesn't apply your settings.

It worked when I unselected folders outside of the inbox.

====quote====
bigg one writes:
this capability exists in theBat as well.
Right click any header and select 'Message list columns'. Then you can define which columns to be visible, order of appearence and column widths.
=============

Yes, but in mine, the changes I make do not stick. Once or twice they have. I don't know what I do differently. Is there a way to do universal column settings that stick?
On another note, I should be able to move the header columns around, and they should stick.

I now this capability exists with other software.
I understand what you mean.... I expect sorting too, the main problem is that the header is too close to the top email, I click on the top row, and sometimes I miss. Maybe doubleclick for sort or something, or make it so that the top row is a couple of rows below the header or some space.
>I hate the fact that when you click on a column it sorts on that column

It's like that almost everywhere - in Windows Explorer, in other file managers, archivers etc. etc. When I click a column header, I expect sorting.
Maybe there should be a 'freeze layout' option which if enabled will discard attempts to sort, resize etc.

>Clicking To gives the whole address book, what about a recent list? Is that not possible?

click the other end of To: box, there are two down arrows which bring a MRU list
What I hate:

I hate the fact that when you click on a column it sorts on that column. I click on it inadvertently many times, and very frustrating sometimes.

I hate that auto-complete doesn't work that well.
It should add a ";" at the end for more addresses, and tab should complete the auto-complete instead of completely ignoring it, like many other apps do.

When "right clicking" within the "to" textbox, I shouldn't get paste when there is no email address in the clipboard! However it would be nice to give me a list of addresses I can choose from prefer recent list of sent-to addresses.

Clicking To gives the whole address book, what about a recent list? Is that not possible?
