Thanks for the info - that was the one pane I didn't try clicking, double clicking, right clicking etc on.

Open the scheduler, select something in the task pane, right mouse button, new.

I used to use the scheduler several years (and several versions) back but now with verion 4.0.38 I cannot figure how to add new tasks and reminders - is there any documentation or help available?  The Bat help is,as usual, 4 years out of date and is no help at all - I suppose there is no chance of it being updated ever?
