The point is, that I want to use html to highlight things etc.
In ALL other applications that I use, be it Word, Excel, Incredimail, Outlook etc. ENTER means new line.

I just cannot understand why this is not a feature that be set with a switch. There is so much inovation in TheBat!, but this bit of comfort (which pops up on all sorts of forums since at least 2005) is not on the list.

I'm sure that a lot of users would be happy to see it!

George
this is more or less standard behavior that exists in lots of other apps too. Just ENTER creates a new paragraph, which is a block element with extra space around it. SHIFT + ENTER creates a new line.
If you switch to plain text editor (micro ed) , ENTER alone makes a new line, not a paragraph.
I would like to bring this back into focus.
I've been battling with this problem for ages and had hoped that it would be fixed with the new V.4, BUT it isn't!!

I've "googled" all over the place for a solution, but NO JOY!

I'm using Incredimail now, but would prefer to use Thebat! if only this bug could be fixed. I certainly won't purchase a new version, unless this is fixed.

Has anyone out there in cyberspace got a solution - PLEASE!!

George
I just posted a follow up on your previous thread, and I thought that what you said about using shift+enter in a new message would solve the problem, but after testing that theory further today, I dont think it is working for my other mail clients. It makes perfect sense though. I even thought that what might be happening was shift+enter was equivelant to <br> and enter was equivelant to <p>. But now I am not convinced. I think I may have to give up on html for awhile in Bat! so I can appreciate the simplicity of proper formatting. Hope an expert can shed some light or advice!

Extra line space between paragraphs in HTML replies Is it possible to fix it? in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I am using Bat 3.0.1.33. When Outlook or most web-based mailers receive messages composed in Bat HTML editor, they tend to render these messages with an extra line space between paragraphs. Whilst in a new message this behaviour can be corrected by using Shift+Enter instead of Enter as a line break, a real problem comes up when forwarding or replying to messages, because a text, looking in Bat editor smth like

> Line 1
> Line 2

> Line 3

will appear like

> Line 1

> Line 2

> Line 3

in Outlook, Hotmail, etc.

This might be a problem with these mailers, not with Bat itself (as HTML messages sent from Bat to Bat appear to be OK) – but still, how do I get around this, given that not everyone uses Bat yet?

I first posted this question to the templates section to check if it's possible to design a macro removing extra line breaks. But having received no replies, I decided to take chances here.

Thanks a lot for any advice!
