Sorry, solved. Fault at Gmail's end, even though I chose to "enable pop for messages already recieved" this setting was ignored.

CAN connect to Gmail, but no msgs downloaded? in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I have bat v3.0.1.33 demo with the following settings:
Send: smtp.gmail.com:465, STARTTLS, RFC-2554, no MD5

Recieve: pop.gmail.com:995, TLS, Regular authentication

I can connect to the server fine and complete the TLS handshake, but no messages are downloaded. Am I missing something really obvious? I've marked the messages as unread in Gmail. Here's the log:

19/01/2005, 14:32:40: FETCH - receiving mail messages
19/01/2005, 14:32:41: FETCH - Initiating TLS handshake
>19/01/2005, 14:32:42: FETCH - Certificate S/N: 20B9F9, algorithm: RSA (1024 bits), issued from 13 Dec 2004 to 13 Dec 2005, for 1 host(s): pop.gmail.com.
>19/01/2005, 14:32:42: FETCH - Owner: US, California, Mountain View, Google Inc, pop.gmail.com.
>19/01/2005, 14:32:42: FETCH - Issuer: ZA, Western Cape, Cape Town, Thawte Consulting cc, Certification Services Division, Thawte Server CA, server-certs@thawte.com.
19/01/2005, 14:32:42: FETCH - TLS handshake complete
19/01/2005, 14:32:42: FETCH - connected to POP3 server
19/01/2005, 14:32:43: FETCH - authenticated (plain)
19/01/2005, 14:32:43: FETCH - 0 messages in the mailbox, 0 new
19/01/2005, 14:32:43: FETCH - connection finished - 0 messages received

I've tried using STARTTLS for the pop connection, but then it won't connect at all. Here's the log for that, although it's not very interesting:

19/01/2005, 14:34:52: FETCH - receiving mail messages
!19/01/2005, 14:35:53: FETCH - Connect failed

Please help if you can, I need to see if I can get this working before my demo expires, I'm not paying for a client I can't use, and it is such a good client. Opera's mail client works with Gmail (but Gmail doesn't see fit to support the browser!?) but while it has plenty that's good about it, it's just too damn buggy.
