My best guess is that it isn't possible to use the same file, I can think of some conflicts that could cause, but as I don't use attachments in a separate directory...

My best guess is that you don't delete from TB, but in the explorer. That way TB still thinks there should be linked file, however since it isn't there, it estimated size will be zero.
