====quote====

You have used for 2 years TheBat on two PC simultaneously with the same home directory? You think that this use, if this is not intensive, can be sure?
=============

yes, exactly. However it was v3.x
I haven't had any problems. This type of configuration is safe, if you ensure both installations do not try to write to the same file at the same time. Reading files is not a problem.
So you should avoid things like simultaneous fetching of messages or editing the settings from both installations.
Note that non-important settings like windows positions and sizes are kept in the registry and are individual for each installation, so modifying them simultaneously will not be a problem.
I've used theBat that way for about 2 years without problems.
A problem may occur only if both installations try to open the same file for writing, for example if you start fetching new messages from both simultaneously, so they try to write to Inbox message base.
To avoid loss of data, backup the mail folder regularly.
...
Excuse but the synchronization procedure is not very understandable for me in the documentation of The Bat!

This is the best choice?

(I'm not sure about using IMAP then tried an alternative ...)

thanks!

I broke the message because the procedure online did not accept the full message!
Ok, perhaps it is better to use synchronization. But I do not understand well. You can use simultaneously the two computers to send and receive email, create new accounts or filters and the day after sync, with the result that the PC 1 import all data from PC 2 and PC 2 import all data from PC 1? Therefore, each PC can see the work done by the all PC in the previous days.

thanks!
If you don't use both PCs simultaneously then this should be stable. Simultaneous access from multiple PCs is no longer officially supported, but it used to be, I don't know what might be broken in that regard.

You'll encounter minor issues with a dual PC/ one message base setup. After creating a new account, you'll find that the other PC won't recognize the new account until you've created it there too, though it'll recognize the settings as soon as you do.
Some account spanning settings (as configured in Options/Preferences and registering) need to be set on both PCs independently.
It's best to take care that the mail directory has the same path on both systems.

The Bat! LAN Network external HD in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
Hello

I have installed "The Bat!" on 2 PC with WinXP and I specify for both a home directory in a network (LAN) external HD.

Seems that "Teh Bat!" works simultaneously on all PC. When I move or delete a message on the first PC the change is visible on the second pc. But, this is only a small problem, I must to update the account to see the correct number of messages in different folders (menu: Account > Update).

When I use the first pc and the second is closed (or reverse) this solution would be ideal, and when both are on, seems that "The Bat!" operate normally. But I have not done a complete test, then await your confirmation.

This use is stable? May cause damage or loss of messages?

Thanks!
