Maybe try to create a new folder, close theBat, then copy MESSAGES.TBB fr om the physical trash folder to the physical folder of the newly created folder(overwriting existing MESSAGES.TBB there). Then start theBat and the Trash content may become visible in the new folder, but not sure.
=============

Thanks Bigg one for your help!
I was able to Restore the messages as you advised above, one by one.
I tried the second method you suggested but that didn't work.
After restoring more than 1000 messages, my finger was tired of hitting the Del key (restore).

V.1.61 apparently doesn't allow you to restore all the deleted messages at once. What a pity!

Oh well.
yes, deleted messages are not actually deleted but simply invisible, until you compress a message base. Only when you compress it, they are trully deleted.

Right click Trash and sel ect 'Browse deleted messages', then you'll see them one by one and can move(restore) them to other folders. Not sure if it's possible to copy all of them at once.
====quote====
bigg one writes:
well a bit more info could help. You may repeat the procedure - close thebat, archive the current mail folder then delete it, then put back the backup you have and after staring theBat be careful what it asks and what you answer.
=============

Well I followed your advice and was able to restore most of the e-mails this time. I didn't get an error message when I copied the files back and opened the program up.

There are a bunch of e-mails that I'm still trying to recover though.

I have a feeling that I deleted them inside The Bat and they reside in the Trash can.

This is because there are no files in the Inbox and the Trashcan is showing only 22 e-mails.
But when I check the trash folder outside of The Bat, I see a file size of 195M. I see the size of the 22 e-mails in The Bat and their total size is less than 100K.

So my question is, is there a way to recover e-mails that have been deleted into the trashcan?
I thought I saw something of this nature before, but can't find it now.
I have both the TBB and TBI files.

TIA
well a bit more info could help.
You may repeat the procedure - close thebat, archive the current mail folder then delete it, then put back the backup you have and after staring theBat be careful what it asks and what you answer.

If the problem still remains, describe it with some more details. If you have a backup of the mail folder, nothing important is lost.
A little while ago I did a backup the wrong way.
I didn't check to see the right method.

With The Bat closed, I copied all of my data folders to another disk.
I can't remember if I also copied the account.cfg files or anything else.

When I tried to restore the files by copying them back to The Bat directory and starting up the program it asked me something about the files and I chose something.

In the end I lost most of the e-mails.

I still have the files/folders as I just copied them from one disk to another.
Is it possible to still restore them?

TIA
