To receive mail in Gmail the authentication should be set to regular, you should be set to TLS and port 995
I use The Bat for gmail without any problems. One thing gmail itself does is to filter out any messages you sent yourself. Google seems to think this is a service and a kindness where all it does is spread confusion.

The most in-depth and comprehensive support for TB can be found on the TB mailing lists and I really should upd ate the FAQ for the list for gmail users. The number of times the question comes up "Why don't I see my own posts to the lists?". It's because Google removes them for you - "you sent it, why would you want to see it?".

Back to the question in hand - what se ttings should you use for gmail? Well, I use TLS (Secure to dedicated port) for both POP and SMTP access to my google mail and it works perfectly and always has. I'm not even certain TLS is necessary - I just use it.

If you are using TLS then you must be being thwarted by having Google remove your test messages for you.

I can't think of anything else to say to help.
Ok, so I have been using tbird for a really long time and i decided to switch over to thebat because of your extensive filters/macros and such.

anyway, i have uploaded many many gmails to many diff pop clients and never been so frustrated.

my email is not coming into thebat. no errors or anything, all of my settings are correct per your guides.

i can send email (im not using gmail to send, im using an smtp service) just fine but i cant receieve email. thebat tells me its checked and it Fetched 0 emails tho i keep sending myself emails, thebat doesnt bring them into my account!

yes i have logged into gmail.com and turned on pop and imap. i have tried with pop3 and imap4 and neither one brings in any email. also I see the emails that ive sent myself to test on gmail.com so i know they inboxed.

im extremely frustrated and dissappointed, i really thought thebat was going to be "the one" for my needs.

please help me fix this problem if you can. thanks
