still battling gmail got to receive... but not send in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
EHLO/HELO is part of the SMTP protocol - the greeting packet sent to the SMTP server and pretty immaterial in the issue.

Also POP3/IMAP is irrelevant since the problem is with a message being sent, not messages being received.

If your config works at home but not in the office then that shouts loud and clear to me that it's as simple as port 465 being blocked by the office network.

TB works fine on gmail and has for a long, long time.
This is a user to user board. If you want support, open a support ticket.

Are you using "secure to dedicated port (TLS)? You had the SMTP port correct (465) and the POP should be "995"

SMTP authentication should have "Perform SMTP authentication" checked and "Same user/Password ..." and nothing else in that box

POP authentication should be set to regular.

Check and see if you are trying to log in as name@gmail.com. If so, delete the "@gmail.com" If nit, try it. Gmail is flakey.
try new 4.2.12.4, there were some changes in EHLO/EHLO, which could help

but i am not sure, I did not saw this specific EHLO/HELO problem yet. If new version will not help, turn ON protocol logging in Account properties, section Transport, delete password from SMTP.LOG and paste it here.
