I disagree. But YMMV. I personally don't like or recommend Norton - under any circumstances. Sitting in the software product support seat I've seen it produce one too many false positives without recourse to allow it on any system in my control. I use and rcommend AVG myself.

If AVG 7 has too great a footprint then you'll loathe Norton too. Very few others have plugins available. Certainly none of the free options.

I don't use any plugins. I use Norton Internet security. this scans incoming and outgoing email from any email client without having to be embedded. It also gets updated daily with new definitions which I doubt any pluging does.

I ssuggest you get Norton Antivirus or Internet Security or Possibly F-Secure. They all standalone.

Hello friends, Is there any antivirus plugin available for AntiVir ?  I have been using AVG free version 6 till now, but they have discontinued it and ver 7 seems too much resource hungry for my system.

Please inform me if there is any pluging for Antivir.
