Advice from Support was to delete the registry entries AddressBookProfilePath and AddressBookProfilePathRelative.

All is working fine again .

TB Pro fails to load at startup v4.2.23 (Win7) 'not responding' following restore in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I am actually certain I am NOT storing address books in the Windows directory - they are in the .. .\Documents\Mail directory along with the various Mail files and folders.

My problem is that following a TB Pro restore (of address books but not Mail) the registry entries for the address files are showing the Windows directory, so both AddressBookProfilePath and AddressBookProfilePathRelative point to C:\Windows, and this is clearly wrong. I assume this is corruption by the TB Pro Restore process as there were no issues prior to my running it to get the address books back.

So I can edit the registry entries but wanted to see if anyone was aware of other changes that might be needed prior to making the registry change (and maybe corrupting it or the install ).
That's an odd place for your address books, are you sure you're storing your address books in your Windows directory?

TB Pro fails to load at startup v4.2.23 (Win7) 'not responding' following restore in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
Just installed TB Pro v4.2.23 following a HDD crash. Mail folders were recovered from the broken HDD and some not-so-recent mail backups - TB and RAR. Took the opportunity to upgrade to Win 7 and latest TB version. Copied recovered mail folders to My Documents as I didn't have a recent backup and set this as destination for TB Mail. TB found the Inbox only but none of the Common folders. Ran a restore to get back address book details from one of the older backups as these details hadn't changed recently. Seemed to work OK, and also bought the Common folders back in that previously were not present.

Closed TB, then restarted TB several times and each time it just hangs, with W7 say it is 'not responding'. The logs show:

ex_log.txt (in the Mail folder) has the following entries:

v4.2.23 . ./Steve 28/02/2010 7:32:51 AM AddrBook:13 EDosStreamError Cannot open file "C:\WINDOWS\LDAP#1.ABD" Access is denied. Same for \LDAP#2.ABD and \LDAP#3.ABD.

thebat_Exceptions.log, also in the Mail folder, has entries showing ...Date: 28 Feb 2010 07:32:51 ... ClassName: EDosStreamError Message: Cannot open file "C:\WINDOWS\LDAP#1.ABD" Access is denied etc

which is consistent with ex_log.txt above and reasonable as the C:\WINDOWS\LDAP#x.ABD files don't exist in C:\WINDOWS\ - they are in my Mail folder. The earliest times in the logs coincide with the time for running the restore.

Registry is showing the following entries under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat! with a Last Write Time of 28/02/2010 - 7:32 AM - when I attempted to restore the previous backup following installation of the new version (4.2.23).

Value 17
Name: AddressBookProfilePathRelative
Type: REG_SZ
Dat a: %EXEDRIVE%\WINDOWS\ADDRBOOK.INI

Value 18
Name: AddressBookProfilePath
Type: REG_SZ
Dat a: C:\WINDOWS\ADDRBOOK.INI

Both AddressBookProfilePath and AddressBookProfilePathRelative seem wrong but Working Directory, etc entries seem correct. Does anyone know whether changing AddressBookProfilePath and AddressBookProfilePathRelative in registry is all that is needed to fix this (before I go and modify the registry on my new Win7 install)?

Thanks
