====quote====
1) in order to copy something into one of the header fields of a message I’m composing, I have to use Shift-Ctrl-v instead of normal Ctrl-v; if I use Ctrl-v, the content of the clipboard shows up in the message body, instead of on the header line where the cursor is showing;

=============

I can't confirm that behaviour over here. So either you've run into a bug that's being fixed in the current beta (that I'm using) or something else is amiss.

====quote====
2) to make signs like ї or « on the cursor position with normal Alt-codes 168 and 174, I have to activate NumLock first; if I don’t, I do get these signs, but at the beginning of the line, in stead of where the cursor is; no other Windows program I am familiar with obliges me to use NumLock, they all (except Word) accept these codes with or without NumLock activated.
=============

First of all, the Windows specs say that numlock has to be pressed for the Alt codes to function properly. Lots of programs are programmed such that it works without numlock being pressed, but that's no Windows standard. It's a programmers add on.
When I press one of your codes in my editor (numlock off) I'm getting to the beginning of the line, but no characters. Arriving at the beginning in the line is normal, since the 1 corresaponds with the 'End' button and I was trying it on an empty line.

As you didn't specify the editor you were using, I only tried this in MicroEd, my favorite editor within TB.

You're mentioning these things as wishes, in that case you should add them to the wish list, this forum is only for asking questions about TB's configuration.

You can insert wishes in the wish list, by logging in to:
<noindex>https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/main_page.php</noindex>
Choose 'The Bat! wishes' and add a new item.
First check whether someone has made the same wish, then you can
support that wish.
Wishes that are supported by more users are more likely to be granted
than wishes by one. And the system isn't smart enough to understand
that wishes might be the same.
And add just one wish per entry. Makes everything easier, both for
other users who want to add support and for the developers.

like other Windows programs two wishes for standard behavior in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I have been using The Bat! for some weeks now (version 3 Pro on a Windows 2000 machine), and there are two things I wish I could do in the standard Windows ways:

1) in order to copy something into one of the header fields of a message I’m composing, I have to use Shift-Ctrl-v instead of normal Ctrl-v; if I use Ctrl-v, the content of the clipboard shows up in the message body, instead of on the header line where the cursor is showing;
This is true for example for the mail clients Outlook Express, Pegasus Mail and Opera Mail.

Thanks a lot for your attention.
