OK next check your SMTP settings and make sure they are on the correct ports and using the correct configuration. Do them one at a time and go slow. You can look at an error 100 times and someone else will see it right away

Tried this advise, no luck... the same result. notwithstanding I'm working on behalf of local administrator of this machine.

Go to the mail directory in Windows. Even though you are an administrator, Right click / security and add yourself with full privileges and let it populate to all folders beneath it. This is especially true if the mail is in the Program data file
Should it be that way? No, being in the admin group should do it BUT ... give it a try

Yes, the issue happens with all mail accounts in TheBat from the installation's moment (btw, mail receiving works perfectly). No antivirus was installed on the machine.

Does it happen for all accounts and all recipients?
Is your virus scanner scanning outgoing mail?
When did the problem start?

TheBat v 5.0.20, firewall is disabled, WinXP SP3 English - the same message comes every time when I try to send an email. What I'm supposed to do to eliminate it?

Check the logs of your firewall and virus scanner. Those are the programs that limit the behaviour of other programs. TB is able to work just fine with Windows 7. When I installed it on Win 7 there were no problems whatsoever.

Still unable to send mail.  As this happens on all of my accounts, be them web based via pop, local ISP, or lifetime accounts, this would appear to be because of my windows 7 settings rather than how each account is configured.  Being unable to send mail makes The Bat useless to me. Im not going back to Vista just to get it to work again.  I really liked The Bat too, but software either has to "just work" or else has to have a functioning support system.  Mozilla Thunderbird works just fine..cya The Bat

I can receive mail fr om various accounts just fine.  But if I try to send fr om any of them I get "Could not export message".  This is a new windows 7 install.  And the message isn't giving me any clues as to wh ere to look.  I tried running the program as administrator and that did nothing.  Wh ere else can I look?
