I guess KAV simply re-installs the plug-in when it's missing. So the best option is to uncheck all options (at preferences -> anti-virus), without deleting the plug-in from your configuration.

I've just installed Kaspersky AV 2011 and am using TheBat 4.2.36.4 (Pro edition). KAV installs an anti-virus plugin for TheBat without asking and without offering a way to disable it. I have done the following:

- in KAV: disabled email protection.
- in TheBat -> Prefs -> Anti-Virus: unchecked ALL the options, then clicked the "Delete" button to remove the plugin.

Upon restarting TheBat, the plugin splash screen shows up again and the plugin is again installed. I've repeated the procedure three times with rebooting, to no effect.

I have no way of knowing if the problem is on the KAV side or TheBat's side, but there should be a way to permanently disable a plugin one does not wish to use. Can this be done, please?

(Explanation of why I do not want the plugin - feel free to skip this part. For one thing, the plugin is entirely superfluous, since every attachment I save and open will be scanned by the real-time AV engine anyway. Secondly, when an AV plugin is installed, downloading messages slows down significantly in TheBat, and the download progress indicator becomes useless, because it shows 0% until the complete message has been downloaded and scanned. I am a translator, and in the course of my daily work I receive numerous large attachments, so these side-effects of the plugin bother me quite a lot.)
