Import Opera mail into The Bat ?

Import Opera mail into The Bat ? How do I import Opera mail into The Bat ? in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
The Opera files are .eml format, they will not be in folders, but by year/month/day. ie: if on Jan 12 2011 you had 23 e-mails received mailstore/2011/01/12 you will find 23 e-mails filed as *.mbs. 1 .mbs per e-mail message.

Fookes Software does have a program that will convert but is not needed. You can of course use a bulk rename program to change the file extension from .mbs to .eml if you like (make a copy into another directory for safety...).

Import Opera mail into The Bat ? How do I import Opera mail into The Bat ? in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I have had to change email clients but I don't know Opera mail HOWEVER - try creating a folder with the same name as on in Opera then drag the emails from Opera to The Bat and see if that works. If that doesn't work, try dragging them into some windows folder. If that works they WILL drag and drop into the Bat. (Then you have to delete them before going to the next folder.

The FIRST thing you might do though is esport that .MBS file and try to import it into the Bat as an MBX file. I am not sure it that is strictly speaking an Opera file or a variation on the MBX format. At the worst you will waste 5 minutes and make a mess in one bat folder. Do this in a non-account folder (i.e not your account inbox)

I hope that helps - please report back on your progress - posting it will help others
Hi Big one
Thanks for Your answer
I have just upgraded to Opera 11, but that didn't give me any more options in the File | Import Export menu there is only four export options News, bookmarks, bookmarks as HTML and contacts, no mail.

Opera stores its mails in a large folder structure and keeps one simple-text file for each mail in this structure.
e.g. Folder Year | folder month | folder day | mail files
so unless the importer can find all these files it will be a uge task to import 450MB of text files..

Thanks again
Best regards
Asger
Opera can export, at least in my v.11.0 there's a menu command(so you may upgrade if lower versions can't) - right click a folder -> choose Export
Unfortunately it can only export to one format - .mbs
I have no idea what it is, but you may try to import such files in theBat, if needed change the extension. If this doesn't work, there's maybe a converter somewhere that can convert .mbs to something theBat can import.

BTW check also the files where Opera stores emails (without export) - theBat may be able to import these. Or they may be .mbs, the Export operation is simply a copy operation.
Thanks for the answer.

But sorry to say that, there is no option in opera to export emails, to any format.

Will it be possible to import Opera mails in the new version of The Bat ?

The Bat look like a nice mail client, but if I cant get my mails imported it is not of much use to me.

Hope to hear that it will be possible.

Thanks in advance
Asger
