It's also a good idea to keep compacting periodically to keep the database as light as possible - I've configured all items on my database to be compacted every time The Bat! is exited.

where to save attachments is a per-account setting, so you may think of sorting messages with attachments in another account - this can be done with filters.
Note that restoring a backup of such account may break the links between messages and external files (not sure, just think so).

How do I reduce the size of e-mail database?

I have many e-mails with attachments in message bodies.

If I save the attachments:

Mesaage \ Attachments \ Save all to...

...attachments remain in the messages. If after that, I delete attachments from the message body, I will not know which attachment belongs to which message.

How do I resolve this problem and reduce the size of the mail database?

PS In the future, I set to save attachments in a separate folder.
