Miloš Radovanović, thanks! Switching back to the old interface allowed me to proceed with the changes I needed to get done.

(I had looked in the preferences for a switch like that already, but not found it, until you gave me a specific place to look and the assurance that it was there to be found.)

I do have groups created. In fact, what I have - which sounds like it might be relevant? - is a system where I put every address in at least one group and have all the groups set to "hide items if not explicitly selected", because something about having them all in a disorganised clump was annoying me. (It was long enough ago now that I don't remember specifically what that was.) What I've been trying to do was more precisely move an address from one group to another.

Silly question, but do you have any groups created?

If you do and this still happens, try switching to the old address book interface (Options -> Preferences -> Other options)

In the old interface, you add contacts to groups by going to the properties of a contact (right click), and using the "..." button by the Groups field in the General tab.

Also, when creating groups make sure to deselect the option "Hide items if not explicitly selected", which will make contacts added to a group visible fr om the general address book. You can modify this field for existing groups in their Properties (again, right click). I have 10.5.4 and I am having the same problem described above.

When I right click on the contact and select "Add to group", nothing whatever happens.

Any suggestions?

I have 10.3.3.3 and am struggling with the new address book.

1. When viewing a contact, I can't see how to determine what groups they are in.

2. How do I remove a contact from a group, but not delete the contact completely?

3. This help section is only for the old Address Book. Is there any help for the new one?
