Ya I can open up that .tbb file and see my messages in it. But when I try it on the bin, its all crap. I guess I will just start cleaning up the extra space its taking. Thank you for all your help!!
If it's a lot of garbled crap then you might be out of luck with regard to restoring anything. It would appear that your OS crash might be due to some harddisk failure or something.
The .bin is supposed to contain more or less readable text (just like your .tbb files) The only place where it should contain unreadable stuff would be at the locations where your attachments are stored.
ok I know I dont encrypt my messages. And yes that file worked for opening it. But you dont want me to paste that all in here...lol Its alot of garbled crap. And the .bck and part0001.bin are 2.03MB, the .ibk is 16.4 KB, the .tbb is 7.88KB, and the .tbi file is 16.9 KB. They are different sizes depending on the folder and how many emails I had in the folder.
Notepad is somewhat limited in the size of the files it can open. What's the size of those files?
They shouldn't be encrypted. When you're using an encrypted message base your messages.tbb should have been called messages.ebb.

There are a lot of notepad subdstitutes that allow for bigger files. I'm using EDXOR:
<noindex>http://members.ozemail.com.au/~nulifetv/freezip/freeware/edxor.htm</noindex>

I see that the forum software abbreviates the clickable link, you need the part after the ~ too.

GБ

Thats all that shows up when I open the .IBK file. The .BCK file is the same size as the part0001.bin in the folder. It just locks up notepad when I try to open the .BCK file. Maybe if I wait for 30 mins or so then it would open it...lol They must be encrypted?
You might try to copy the part0001.bin to a different location, rename the copy to messages.tbb and try to import the contents with:
Tools -> Import messages -> From TB message base v2
I don't know what the .bck and .ibk files are supposed to to be. What do they look like when you open them with a text editor?
Ok thank you for setting me right on that one:) And I have a.tbb, .tbi, .bck, .ibk, and a part0001.bin in my folders that did not come back. And the ones that did only have .tbb, and .tbi in them. And it was a fail on my operating system. I have not cleaned it in a LONG time. It was long over due for a reformat! And it looks like all .tbb files are 3.00kb, but the other files are bigger. I dont see any folders that are missing, only emails out of those folders. And not all messeges, thats whats odd. I have 4 sections in my setup. And only part of 1 came back. Thank you for the help!
Actually, I said that when you've still got your message base on disk it's relativelvely simple to get it back. What you're saying is that you've still got your folder structure, but no messages. And that might mean that your message base isn't stored anymore.
However let's start with the basics. When you check your message base you'll see that every account corresponds with a directory in your mail directory and that every folder in your accounts has a corresponding directory in your account directory.

When you look in your folder directories, you should see two files called messages.tbb and messages.tbi
The .tbb file contains the messages. When you check the directories with missing messages, do they still have those files and is the .tbb large enough to actually contain the missing messages? Are there any other files present in those directories?

What kind of crash did you experience? And how many folders are missing messages? Are the messages all gone or only a selection?
Roelof Otten I see that you said its pretty easy to get everything back? I had this same thing happen to me, and am now trying to get all my emails back. I have all my folders show up, just not all emails came up. Whats the process of getting them back? Thank you.
Thank you very much.

Because I lost all my emails. Fortunately, I've stored my order number in another way and got my order details from the support page.

An email with order details has been sent to keys@ritlabs.com.

This is not the right way to contact the Ritlabs developers, though you should contact the support department for this.
See <noindex>http://www.ritlabs.com/en/about/contacts.php</noindex> for the specifics.

I don't know how extensive your system crash was, but if you've still got your old message base on disk, then it's easy to restore it and also the registration mail that you might have stored in it.
