Ritlabs, SRL releases version 2.0 of The Bat!

Version 2.0 of Ritlabs, SRL popular "The Bat!" email client software for Windows is available right now. It is jam-packed with new and improved features. New things like anti-virus plug-ins, a brand new HTML editor, full IMAP4 support, Anti-spam improvements, build-in scheduler and reminder, a whole range of usability and functionality improvements.

Here are the details:

The Bat! v2 features new plug-in interface for anti-virus programs to check data for viruses only in special occasions like receiving mail or saving attachments. The use of plug-ins saves you from the imperative of utilizing permanently running antiviral monitors that may significantly degrade performance of the computer.

The Bat! v2 also includes new Anti-spam plug-in interface to keep you protected from unsolicited commercial e-mail.

The major improvement of The Bat! v2 over previous versions is the fully functional IMAP4rev1 support for on-line, off-line and combined use, which lets you keep your message folder base on the server and manage it on-line from multiple locations.

Ritlabs, SRL did always pay much attention to privacy in electronic mail. While The Bat! v1 did support S/MIME and PGP up to version 6.5, The Bat! v2 extends PGP support up to version 8, and brings support for PGP/MIME.

The major significance in electronic writing has the ability to emphasize a word or a phrase by applying a different text style to it. That's why The Bat! v2 supports HTML mailing. The Bat! v2 has it's own HTML editor and viewer which are not based on Windows-dependent HTML component, that have been the targets of many recent virus attacks.

The Bat! v2 has a number of features that are making your e-mail experience simple and convenient:

The Sorting Office is a powerful filtering system, not only sorts incoming, outgoing, read, and replied messages to folders, but also can auto-respond; reply with a custom template; forward, redirect, print, or export messages; send reading confirmations; run an external program and more.

The Bat! users save hours of typing with Quick Templates and macros. These are extremely useful, especially for teams involved in any kind of support via e-mail who find themselves forever answering the same questions. Version 2 introduces plug-in programmable interface for creation of user-defined macros which brings usage of templates on a new level.

The Bat! v2 provides an import wizard that allows easy migration from many email clients.

Ritlabs, SRL also offers The Bat!-based solutions for email security.

Based upon Ritlabs, SRL powerful, highly configurable e-mail client, The Bat!, AuthenticBat! provides secure authentication using iKey hardware tokens from Rainbow Technologies. Every user has an iKey which plugs into their computer and identifies them. With its processor, RAM, and USB interface, the iKey token eliminates the problems of passwords being shared or guessed. These keychain-sized iKey tokens are configured by the security officer, who may be the company's network administrator, business manager, or security director. Each user can set their own Personal Identification Number (PIN). With this combination of hardware and PIN, there is no risk of users giving away their passwords to other users, or passwords being stolen from the user's computer or intercepted over a network.

SecureBat! has all of the features of The Bat! and AuthenticBat!, and adds transparent, on-the-fly encryption of the e-mail message base, address books, and configuration files. OpenPGP or S/MIME techniques protect messages in transit, and unencrypted files are never stored on disk. SecureBat!'s use of iKey technology ensures that only authorized users can access their e-mail accounts, and the most powerful encryption methods available ensure that messages are secure while in transit.
