How do you get sounds to play

Using The bat V 5.0.12/ Windows 7 64Bit

Trying to set up the sound notification for new messages.
I can map the sound to the Windows Media folder and if I do a test on the sound it plays. It does not play when a message arrives.

Doing a search on the forums, and found that the sound should be in the Sounds folder in The Bat folder.
No such folder, so I have created a folder (Sounds) in The Bat folder and tried that but still no luck.

Is there something I am doing wrong, or does the sound notification not work.

That's not really true - my sound file is mapped to "C:\Windows\Media\" and it plays fine.

Maybe, you need to re-check the sound file extension (mine is .WAV)

well I have remapped it to C:\Windows\Media\tada.wav

Again doing the test , I can hear the sound.

Still when new mail comes in , there is nothing but silence.

This is using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit SP1/The Bat 5.0.12 or earlier versions

This was actually fixed in v5.0.12.
I think this will work for you too, if you'll just do a clean install of v5.0.12.

Under the option where you re-mapped your sound file, there's another option - 'Allow sound only within time interval.' Is there any time restriction visible - ideally, the entry therein should read as follows:-

00:00-24:00

Thanks Battie & Tomaso, clean install worked, cannot understand why, but hey it works :)

Glad you got that working - full credit goes to Tomaso :)

I have the same problem - sound for incoming messages (for 4 accounts) worked in old version V1.62 flawless.
Since V4 (and now V5.0.12) I mostly hear no sound for incoming messages.
Path and sound-files are OK (testing is OK too).

Even tried the trick with creating a "sounds" folder for the sound files.

Still waiting for a fix...

Since V4 [..]

Sounds in v4 work fine on XP3.

The only problem I have found with sounds and v4 is if you have a lot of sub-filtering. You cannot access the message that triggered the sound event until TB! has finished processing the whole set of filters making TB! appear to hang.

there is no problem with sound for v4 and v5 in Windows XP SP2 and win7 ultimate for me.  :D

I registered here just to post the fix. I hope someone can benefit from it. : )

Sounds would not play for me either. Windows Ultimate x64. I tried everything people suggested but everything was fruthless.

So without further ado,

Go to Account ---> Sorting Office/Filters

Sel ect "Incoming mail", right click and add "New Filter";

Name it as you like and in the Condition window choose ["Time of" - reception - is fr om ] and then put 00:00 to 23:00;

In the Actions windows click Add and then choose "Play a sound";

Choose the wav file that you want and click OK;

Sound should play now.

P.S. Although this works perfectly, it is a workaround. This is still a bug and developers should look in to it.

no solution for me...

I try all these tricks but they don't work...

even deleting account and recreate it....

perhaps uninstalling absolutely all but I don't want  :(  :evil:
