How to restore a folder? Restore of a folder of an account hangs up => "not responding".

Bat 5.0.20.1:

I've tried to restore a folder of an account but the maintenance centre hangs up => "not responding" in the title.

I've selected
- Tools / Restore
- only folders with messages + let me choose the folders to be restored

I've added the *.tbk file (done with version 4.0 before I've switched to 5)

Pressed OK

Then I got the account list, selected the account ... and then the never ending story starts ... windows title shows "not responding".

.tbk file has 430 MB connected via esata.

Note: The same account to restore from doesn't exist anymore. I've tried to restore a folder from an old POP3 account into another POP3 account.

Any other idea how to restore the folder?

Unfortunately backups created by 4.0 can't be restored by 4.1 and later due to a change in the message base format.
Best way to restore it would be to install TB 4.0 (preferrably on a different computer), restore your folder, and import the messages from that folder into v5

Thanks,

but I've used "RIT Labs The Bat_4.2.44" - not 4.0 - for the backup before I've switched to 5.0.18.

Sorry and advanced thanks for the next reply.

I haven't heard anything about backups from 4.2 being not restorable by v5, but on the beta list the developers advised against switching from v5 to v4 and back again due to some changes, so it might be possible that there's a restore problem between v4.2 and v5.
However, the fact that you're trying to restore a single folder from a no longer existing account could be the problem too. Try to restore the full account. And if that is problematic then try to install v4.2.44 somewhereand restore  it there.

Thanks a lot.

Of course I've tried to restore the full account too - same problem.

I'll try to install 4.2.44 in a VM and restore the whole backup. After that I'll copy the required account from the VM to my real PC for Bat 5 folder and re-create the account in 5. I think this should work, right? Or have I something forgotten?

THANKS
