Emails left on the server

The setting is set to "Delete received messages from server". I can go in by the web-mail OR my very old email client to delete them, but next time I download emails, it leaves another bunch there. Anyone know why this is happening?

I changed the "Receive Mail" Authentication to RFC-1734. As a bonus, my email now downloads faster. RFC-1734 may not work for you, so try one of the other authentications until you get the results you need. Click Account -> Properties.
