SMTP TLS problem (solved)

I am really sorry, but I have to say this, that this email client is one of the worst email client I ever saw. Today I purchased it with some high hopes as it was recommended by many bloggers, but I think RITLABs paid them for their reviews. Anyways, here's the story:

I purchased it 20 hours ago and installed it on my Windows 8.1 x64 machine. Installation was smooth. But then problems started. After configuring it for my email, I found that only IMAP works, whereas SMTP refuses to work. I totally almost 20 hours and tried numerous settings to get it worked, but all in vain. Everytime there is some f**ing TLS issue. I googled about it, but found nothing useful. I am using Office365 Enterprise and ZOHO email. IMAP for both the platform works but SMTP refuses to some Bl**dy handshake with web-email servers. Sometimes this error appears: SEND  - TLS protocol error: Unexpected message SessionUnknownContentType ct (52) and sometime this:  SMTP  - TLS handshake failure. An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

I don't know if RITLABS ever tested their own software in their lab. For sure this software have numerous potentials, but they made it so complicated that no one would like to use it.

I will NEVER recommend this software to anyone in or outside my company, unless and until someone do look into the matter sincerely and work on these tiresome issues.

Having said that, I am looking for refund, so anyone care to share how can I get my refund so that I can purchase any other email client for my day to day work. For some reasons, I have stopped using MS Outlook 2013 and looking for alternates. I found TheBAT good, but after struggling it with more than 20 hours, I am regretting on my decision. :(

This is a user to user support forum and not the correct place to ask about refunds. Contact the authority from whom you purchased the license.

Did you try the various Connection settings for smtp? I've found that not all web services or email servers use the same connection settings.  I don't use IMAP but have found some playing around with SMTP settings is required to make it work. In any case I have 5 accounts with different services and all work flawlessly.  One of my servers is Zoho also. My POP smtp is Secure to Dedicated Port (TLS) and the port is 465 for my Zoho account.

Avinash, we are sorry you had such a hard time configuring The Bat! to work with zoho.com. Should you have addressed this issue to the Support section we would have been able to help you immediately, as this is a user-to-user forum.

We have created an account at zoho.com and were able to get it instantly to send/receive email. Please see the attached screen-shots. First you need to activate your account, then enable POP/IMAP in the zoho settings via the web-interface, then create a new account in The Bat!

Note that the settings are already provided upon enabling POP or IMAP.

Thank you, Alex!

We did a thorough testing for last 48 hours and found that it's Symantec PGP which do not work along with TheBAT. It does not allow TheBAT to connect with SMTP server for some reason. There is also some potential conflict with AVAST Internet Security too. Other email clients like Thunderbird, eMClient, Outlook 2010 & 2013, ClawsMail and MailBird works flawlessly with Symantec PGP. Only TheBAT do not work. Actually it was unable to connect to SMTP, IMAP and POP3 works fine. We didn't test MAPI.

May be you should test your software with Symantec PGP and should make it compatible.

Cheers,
Avinash

We have installed Symantec PGP Desktop and as soon as The Bat! tries to establish a TLS connection Symantec intercepts it, thus causing The Bat! to fail connecting with the mail servers. Try to set Symantec not to scan the connections and let The Bat! do the job via TLS.

I‘v had the same problem.I have issued a support ticket.
