How can I get the 64-bit version of TheBat!?

I see in a couple of places on this site that there are two versions of TheBat!, 32- and 64-bit. Those references are here (https://www.ritlabs.com/en/about/press_releases.php?ELEMENT_ID=5020&sphrase_id=1032334) and here (https://www.ritlabs.com/en/news/index.php?ELEMENT_ID=4848&sphrase_id=1032334).

However, I can't any specific reference to reference to a 64-bit version on the products pages, and although I have a 64-bit system my About page says I have a 32-bit version of TheBat! (so if the correct version is automatically installed, that didn't happen for me).

How can I get the 64-bit version?

Thanks,
-- Larry

Give it a couple of days. The 64 bit has always been thebat.exe that overwrote the 32 bit under \programs (86)

Just today they have release the 64 bit installer to the beta group. I haven't even installed it yet

OR ... join the beta group

Thanks for your quick reply.

The on-line versions of two above press releases should be corrected then, since they say there is a version 6.x 64-bit version.  Or perhaps they should simply be deleted from the website.

I am just an end user like you and have no control about the website content, but again, give it a couple of days and you will have an installer as all seems to be going well so far. It is supposed to remove the 32 bit and install the 54 bit under \Program Files\ It does a fast job and runs much zippier than the 32 bit version, but it did not remove my 32 bit which is no big deal If you have a a lot of customized smilies, copy the folder somewhere while you install the 64 bit

If you have or want a bigger set of smilies, start another thread when you get your 74 bit installed

You can download the 64-bit version of The Bat! from https://www.ritlabs.com/en/products/thebat/download.php

Terrific!  Does this install over the 32-bit version (using all settings and accounts?).  Are there any particular installation instructions?  Thanks.

Hi,
I replaced my installation of The Bat 6.7.7 32 bit with the new version 6.7.20 64 bit without problems and without losing anything in my setup or my accounts.

In order to install the 64-bit version on your computer, please do the following:

1. Close The Bat!

2. De-install The Bat! via the Control Panel and only by the Control Panel.
Do not uninstall with another uninstaller like Revo Uninstaller or otherwise; only by the Windows Control Panel

3. Remove the content of the folder The Bat! from the C:\Program Files(x86) or any other install folder

4. Install the new version of the program.

5. Some plugins, such AntispamSniper for The Bat will not be compatible, it must reinstall a new version 64 bit over 32 bit version of that plugin.

Thank you to The Bat support who responded very quickly to my questions.

If you install  6.7.20 64-bit over 6.7.7 32 bit, you don't need to do steps 2 and 3. The new version should automatically uninstall a previous one, regardless of the bitness.

Installation went alright as described above. But AntispamSniper (64-bit) either prevents The Bat! from starting at all (runtime error), or when it does manage to start, AntispamSniper prevents The Bat! from communicating with the mail servers.

Does anyone know of any other suitable spam filters, perhaps?

Installation went smoothly for me. Thanks for the tips. (Abdul, I don't have any plugins.)

I just installed the 64 bit without any of the steps above and have had no problems. I don't have any plugins and all my accounts are POP.

I used to use Antispam plugom but decided to just send anything not in my address book(s) to Trash. I review trash and then empty.  My settings are to delete from server if emptied from trash.

I just installed the new 64-bit v6.7.20 over the 32-bit v6.7.7.  The install went fine but did not delete the old 32-bit version, and left a shortcut to the old version on my desktop and on my Start menu.

Should I just delete the 32-bit version, or did the installer leave it in place for a reason?

In the past, we did use the Install Shield X to compile the MSI files. Since version 6.7.20, we are using the WiX Toolset, a different tool. The new MSI files sometimes do not uninstall the previous version. We have not been able to fix this probelm so far. The MSI log sometimes (but not always) says that the previous version have been installed via per-user install but the new one by per machine install, and that's why it didn't uninstall the previous version. Please uninstall previous version manually.

Thanks for this. I had the same problem with it not uninstalling the 32-bit version.

Hello

I have 6.7.7.0 32bit installed. If I install 6.7.36 (32bit) both installation will be available in CP :) but if I start the program it says 6.7.7.0 32 bit.

Strange

ps: now I realized there is a new exe file called thebat32.exe while the old one called thebat.exe still exists.

Just go to the 64 bit folder and send a shortcut to the desktop and use that

The new installer (.msi) of The Bat! might not install older versions. In this case, you will see both versions of The Bat! in the Control Panel / Add/remove programs (uninstall a program) list of Windows. Just uninstall the older version.
