Error....25k lost emails...unstable, What is happening to thebat

I use now thebat around 10 years and I do not know what is happening. The maintainance does not recover the messages (save bin files of 5gig that I can not integrate), during restoring it stalls and I am loosing all the present inbox messages, and integrating older messages holds the bat and I have to restart again.

Ritlabs team, what is happening?

The process never ends and after canceling, all inboxes off all accounts are wiped clean. No recovering possible!!

That was corruption. Can you see any of the emails? Note what folder you are currently dealing with. Close the bat. Find that folder using windows explorer and delete the indexing file (the smaller of the 2) Move it somewhere if you are not comfortable with this) Then reopen the bat and see it the messages now show. IF they do, then create a folder (under that folder is fine) and drag all the messages out of the troubled folder to the new folder
Now go out in windows explorer and delete the two (or more) files in that folder.Back to the bat and drag all the messages back. That will remove all the corruption. If that works be prepared to do this on a folder by folder basis BUT  ... most folders won't need processing

This sounds very much like the problems I have been experiencing!

I have been happily using The Bat! 32 bit for several years and as I am using Windows 8.1 decided to switch from TB 32bit to 64bit since then I have lost all of my carefully constructed hierarchy of folders for all of my several email accounts.

All I can see is 9 inboxes with no indication of which accounts they belong to. No Draft, Sent, Junk, etc folders at all.

WHAT A MESS! My business is at a virtual standstll.

Furthermore I posted a Support ticket several days ago and have had no response.

Will, I share your concerns. The problem is that also importation and restoring lead to the glitch, where the emails are there (somewhere) but not visualized. I lost also my hierarchy and now work only with the inbox of 80k emails. I really do not have the time to recreate the structure so I work with searching. What it quite interesting is, that with bitlock, virus real time screening activated, TB pushed the HD to 100%. So I assume that the TB HD writing routines have to be improved. However, I am no expert here and I do just some guessing.

My configuration is lenovo x230, 64bit, encrypted TB and HD, and unfortunately window 8.1 + latest version of TB.

@Rick,

Thank you for your suggestion. I had some corruption problems with older versions of TB and without encrypted emails and folder. In these past times, it was easy to resolve the situation I just moved the files around and recreate folders with the same name, and indexing started. However, with the encrypted folders that trick does (at least for me) not work anymore.

What I do now; I created a new account with no real connection. Imported the emails from my different backups (lost 1 month of data, but that is my fault) and then moved the email of my 50+ folders to the new inbox. I currently do not trust anymore the hierarchy structure. It seems that it increases HD processing and when I use TB my HD is already at 100%. And yes TB sometimes stalls, without any interaction, or backup, or indexing.
At my other notebook, which was stolen recently, I had an SSD and no problems. However, I assume that acquiring SSD should not be the solution.

I will get shouted down for this but ...
The Bat's backup is proprietary and often unstable so if it fails you are out of luck. I use a backup program to back up the Bat's data directory to another drive. THe only thing that gets missed are the registry keys and I have a batch file to do that. I keep 7 days of deleted and changed files.

@Rick, thank you for sharing. I ll try your
suggestion. Currently, however
I am fighting TB instability. It just freezes and builds up RAM usage to 2-3gig
(without CPU usage). I really do not know what is happening but currently it is
hard to keep TB open for more than 30min without stalling.

the very best
