Upgrading and installation

Home from v3.99 to v6 - must I save/backup all my emails, adressbook etc. before installing the new software? Or can I install it "over" the old version and all personal data are saved and transferred?

Any problems with either your email account(s) or its/their filter(s) in the upgraded version? I am thinking considering purchasing the latest, 64 bit Home Edition of The Bat.
