IMAP emails not being downloaded, Number of emails read/new appears correctly in the tree but no new emails appear in the list

The Bat is no longer downloading my emails from the server.  The count against the inbox folder is correct (both for read and new emails) but no new emails appear in the list panel nor do they appear in the junk folder (I use Antispam Sniper which seems to be working correctly identifying spam) .  My IMAP settings are to download the entire message for both unread and read messages.  I have tried clearing the cache but that no longer works (it did work once and then I got all the messages when the cache rebuilt)  whether I use Clear Cache Now or Clear on exit (the closing processes hang anyway and I have to abort them).  I am using version 8.0.14 (later versions crash on startup - reported as bug) and I have had various problems caused, I think, by a new version of Kaspersky, which, with the problems I have had with later versions, have resulted in me reinstalling several times so it may be that the last version that worked correctly was different from my current one.

I can see  from the last modified dates on the local cache folders that The Bat can write to them so I am at a loss to understand why the emails do not download.  Any suggestions for resolving this issue will be gratefully received.

No solution, but a suggestion to isolate as much as possible. I would disable the antispam module and, at least briefly, disable Kaspersky. That would let you have more info on this issue, as your post indicates you are somewhat suspicious of Kaspersky. Good luck. As an aside, I don't have the download option selected for any of my IMAP accounts and don't know if that's an issue or not.

I have previously tried disabling Kaspersky, but not Antispam Sniper.  However, since my original post I tried as an experiment to add another email account to The Bat.  This works perfectly downloading messages, and filtering out spam.  The only difference is that it is a POP3 account unlike my main IMAP  account which I am having the issues with.

Interesting that you don't have the download option selected - I assume you can still read the emails?

My perception - and it's just that, nothing more - is that TB! was originally developed for POP and IMAP added later. I say that because I have occasionally encountered options that make no sense for IMAP or that just don't work. Having said that, my belief is that 'download' as a verb generally applies only for moving mail from a server to a PC. Since IMAP runs on the server, there is no need to download. I have six IMAP accounts and all work as expected with the download option turned off. Good luck in resolving your issue.

Did you try to disable AntispamSniper (uninstall it) to see whether that makes any difference? If this makes a difference, try installing latest version of AntispamSniper, maybe The Bat! will work with it. Ritlabs develops The Bat!, while AntispamSniper is developed by another company, so Ritlabs can only guess.
