Shortcut Editor in 3.5?, I can't reply using Ctrl+r any more...

Just upgraded from 3.0x to 3.5.

I usually reply to emails by pressing Ctrl+r to bring up the reply message.

Now that shortcut has been changed to Ctrl+F5 (why?) and I can't seem to find a way to change it back.

The help file says,

Quote
The Shortcut Editor is available in most of The Bat!'s non-modal windows (such as main window, separate message browser, address book, message editor) - you can invoke it by using the View|Edit Shortcuts menu command of any of such window.

Well, I'm afraid I can't see that option in the view menu.  Can someone help me reassign reply to message back to Ctrl+r?

Thanks

In the main menu:
View -> Toolbars -> Customize
Select container as: Main Form - Standard (toolbar)
In current items select the 'Reply' function
In the right corner of the window you'll see an empty box with shortcuts, below that a box with 'none', place the cursor in that box, press Ctrl+R, you'll see this combo in the box, now press the 'Assign' button that has turned clickable.

And now you're done.

Thank you!  That worked a treat  :D

On a related theme...

I used to have shortcuts to display just "read" or "unread" messages (viz. View -> Display -> Only unread messages) but I can't see how to re-create this shortcut in v3.5.

If I go to View -> Toolbars -> Customize -> Main Menu (menu bar) -> Current items -> View -> Display there is no option for "Only unread messages" (even though it *does* appear in the actual menu drop-down itself when using TB.  How can I set the shortcut for a menu option that isn't shown on the config screen? :o

Many thanks for your help.

I also recently upgraded from 3.0.x to 3.5.25 and I have used the new View -> Toolbars -> Customize  feature to define different shortcuts, and they simply don't work.

For example, I defined Ctrl-r to Reply All, yet it only replies to the From address.
I tried to define Ctrl-f for the Search, but it does not work. Instead it tries to Refilter.  I checked the Refilter, and there was no shortcut defined for it.

The settings seem to be sticking, but are ignored.

Please help.
Thanks!

Just for trial purposes I did the same, over here it works fine. When you tried it, did you try to reply to a message with multiple recipients or just with yoy as the recipient. TB skips your own address with reply-to-all when the message is addressed to the address of your account. (It can be argued whether that's unwanted behaviour, but that's beyond this discussion.)

It's defined for refilter, check: Main Form -> Folder Pop-up Menu -> Re-filter

OK, I found the answer. The problem is, your new Customizing Toolbar feature allows for conflicting duplicates. It requires that you search through all of the menus to look for duplicates to define.

For example, "Reply" is listed in 7 different places!:
Main Menu(menu bar)->Message
Standard(toolbar)
Message List Pop-up Menu (Popup)
Message View Pane Pop-up Menu(popup)
Message Header Pop-up Menu(popup)
Message Finder->Main Menu(menu bar)->Message
Message Finder->MessageFinder_MLVHeaderPop(popup)

I was able to go through them all and look for duplicates and clean up the problems. I now have my "Reply" and "Search" working correctly.

What you need is a conflict pop up message window if there are duplicate shortcuts elsewhere. The pop up window should ask, "Do you want to procede? If so, the new shortcut will be removed from the following conflicts."  If this checking was in place, setting the new short cut in one place should be all that's required.

"Only unread messages" does not appear to occur anywhere so it is not possible to set a shortcut for it  :cry:

Roelof Otten ,
 Did you see my post?

If you mean your last post on this thread, yes I saw it. However, I didn't realize that you needed a reply.

On the beta-list it has also been mentioned that it would be nice to have TB checking for conflictiing shortcuts, but until now the development team hasn't been able to do so.

In case you'd like to make a formal feature request, here's the way to do that:

You can insert wishes in the wish list, by logging in to:
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/main_page.php
Choose 'The Bat! wishes' and add a new item.
First check whether someone has made the same wish, then you can
support that wish.
Wishes that are supported by more users are more likely to be granted
than wishes by one. And the system isn't smart enough to understand
that wishes might be the same.
And add just one wish per entry. Makes everything easier, both for
other users who want to add support and for the developers.
