quick template stopped working

Hello,

Ever since I upgraded to v3.5, my quick templates have stopped working. I still have the same ones available as in V3, however, when I select Utilities->Insert quick template nothing happens.

If I remember, there used to be a list of the available quick templates as a submenu from that list, however, its not there anymore.

What you're looking for is:
Utilities -> Insert -> Insert Quick Template -> Take your pick

What you tried to use is something else, that's to be used when you know the name of the quick template (QT) you want to use. So you type the name of your QT in the editor at the place you want to insert the QT and then you select Utilities -> Insert QT
Personally I don't use that menu item rarely, when I know the name of my desired QT I type and follow it up with Ctrl-space, that does the same.

It sounds worse than that. It's not just that they're not working...

This indicates that the file containing your quick templates is empty. The file that contains your quick templates is ACCOUNT.QTN and one exists in every account's root mail folder - every account that has QT's defined.

Do you have a backup from when they last worked? Here's what I suggest. Backup your files as they are now. Restore the old backup set. Use explorer to locate and save the ACCOUNT.QTN file. Restore from the current backup set. Copy the ACCOUNT.QTN file back into place.

That should bring them back. If you don't have a backup then there's nothing else to do but rebuild them from scratch :(

Actually, there is no crisis. Roelof correctly diagnosed the problem. I did not ever notice in V3.0 that there were two ways to insert a quick template, so I tried using the first one I found this time.

It would be nice that if people used the Utilities-InsertQT and there was no QT at the cursor, it should pop up an error message saying "no QT found at cursor. Go to Utilities->Insert->Insert QT and select a QT"

Thanks for your great help!
