valid "Reply-To" addresses

What determines whether a "Reply-To" address is valid.  (It is not the pop-up addresses.)

This message is common.

"Message has not been sent. Server reply - Request failed;
Mailbox unavailable"

Then you remove the "Reply-To" and it goes fine.

And why should TheBat! or the ISP care about what address you tell the person to reply-to?  Theoretically, you might want a reply to an address that is totally unrelated to  your normal setup.  My ISP here is AOL handling grandfathered Verizon mail.

Perhaps the problem is all ISP?  And you have to deal with them?  If so, has anybody gone that route?

Any help appreciated!

Steven

I doubt if the 'Mailbox Unavailable' error message is related to the contents of the Reply-to field in your outgoing message. It simply means that you're trying to send mail to an address that doesn't exist or is temporarily unaccessible.
I volunteer as a moderator to help keep the forum tidy. I do not work for Ritlabs SRL.

However, as soon as I remove the "Reply-to" field, and I send again, the email is sent out successfully.
Many times I ran into the same thing.

I'll see about documenting it with pictures and such.

I am on 7.4.2 .. waiting for 9.
