On-The Fly Encryption ?

Hi All,

Well I followed the un-install-reinstal (restore)  proceedure to get my message base OTF Encrypted.
Still if I browse to  i.e. c:\doc and set\admin\app data\the bat\username\inbox\messages.tbb
I can open the .tbb files with Notepad.
SO definately (I presume) NOT encrypted..

I was told

Ant tips ?

TB! Pro message base files would be labeled MESSAGES.EBB/MESSAGES.EBI and are in the default directory named "The Bat! Pwd" not the ones you have listed.

But I answered

Does your about box display 3.5.25 version?

Maxim,

Thanks for the reply.
Yep I am using 3.5.25 (help about) BTW you come up in the Programming section :D - nice one. Great prog..

The TBB files (unencrypted) are in
c:\documents and settings\administrator\application data\the bat!\username\inbox\messages.tbb and various dirs below..

I read through the message.tbb with say Notepad..

I backed up my old The Bat!, uninstalled. Deleted the above dir and c:\programme files\the bat! (after also saying delete the dirs in the uninstall)
Then installed the new version thebat_pro_3-5-25.msi and then (during the install) restored my backup.

Is is a case that any old restores files will not be encrypted but and new ones will ?

Maxim / Anyone ?

Any ideas.

It seems the On-The Fly encryption just plain does not work ??

Any ideas ??  :!:

Does anyone elses TB (latest ver) Encrypt the database using OTFE or am I the only one with this problem ??

Anyone  ???   :(

Bump ?  :!:

The OTFE choice might have been ignored in 3.5.25, but we've fixed it in 3.5.26, please download http://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/beta/thebat_pro_3-5-26.msi

Maxmin,

That fixed it TOP MAN  :D
Thanks for all the hard work.

Cheers
Tim
