The Bat is very slow in downloading emails, yep!

Since Ritlabs came up with the new versions (even the. 2.xx series) the program has become so slow in downloading mails. Just for comparision my tray email checker downloads and shows the mails almost instantly, while Bat takes more than a minute to do the same thing. To make things worst  if the message has attachments, its a nightmare because Bat will take hours together to retreive the header, then it will take an equivalent amount of time to receive the message. Is anybody else facing this problem?

Do You use any antispam plugin?

Celestial,

Thats odd as my TB is super quick. Quicker than say Outlook.
Ditto what Marek says, the other may be are you running a software firewall that is messing things up , i.e. ZoneAlarm ?

Thanks for the prompt replies. I dont use any plugins, I didn't even install Bayes-IT in the first place. I don't have a firewall running.

ME TOOOO!!!!!! im experiencing the same problem as soon as i put on the new version this week it takes over an hour sometimes to download 8 small messages... im not sure what is going on.. i do have a spam filter cactus spam installed... any ideas

ik disabled cactus spam filter and it solved this issue... however this sucks as i need a spam filter!!??? any ideas

Oliver as I mentioned earlier, i am not using any anti spam plugins, not even a firewall. I don't know why this is happening. The problem seems to get worst in the the latest versions.

I might have to shift back to Outlook if this is not solved. :(

it might have something to do with your antivirus software... is it set so as to check outgoing mail ?

if so test disabling it

I use ChoiceMail One from www.digiportal.com which is a permission-based system. There is a free "lite" version available as well. I have no trouble at all downloading messages - it's usually so fast that I barely have time to see what is being downloaded. I'm using Windows XP Home Edition SP2 with a 1Mb ADSL connection and a Pentium 4 processor.

The anti-virus has nothing to do with slow mail download.

I  have  installed  AntispamSniper Commercial  and  I  had  problem  because  of  the  setting.  It  can  slow  down  a  little  bit  or  a  lot !

Inside AntispamSniper
In setting TAB->server choose the account then click EDIT
In the Account Setting choose TAB->POP3 then select radio button Filter messages on client instead of...

THE OPTION WHO LEAD to an unlimited time download for not supported option for your server.

IF YOU HAVE ANY DOWNLOAD PROBLEM
don't choose an option like:
Filter messages on server by headers, then on client
