Setting the default folder view mode

When I create a new folder, the folder view mode "no view mode" is automatically applied. Is there any way to edit this default view mode?

I can edit the <Generic View Mode>, but it is not automatically applied to new folders. This needs to be manually applied once the folder is created. Is there perhaps a way for the <Generic View Mode> to be automatically applied?

I don't see a way to set the default view mode to something else. However, the view mode can be set while creating the folder, under "Column settings" in the same window, just two clicks away. No need to first create the folder and then change its properties.

+1 from me. It seems crazy to have a default which is not applied by default.

In addition, I'd rather like the view mode to be more sticky than it is now. I often find that the view mode on one or more folders has changed without any conscious intervention on my part.

I'd also like more view mode options for RSS feed messages. They often get out of order and whilst they can be sorted, it's a few clicks into the menu and not the simple in-your-face button at the top of the appropriate column.

There is another way to set default view mode. Use menu View > Global View Mode to select (or set) default. Of course, using global setting can give a side effect (e.g. changing view mode in many folders).

My experience is that this setting is not persistent.

You are right! This is a bug, because in previous versions (I do not remember the number) Global View Mode was allowed to set persistent.
