Disable attachment preview

Is it possible to disable the attachment preview completely? It seems to cause performance issues when selecting emails that have larger PDF or Office files and to be honest, I don't really see it improving the usability for me. I would like to disable it completely so that there is no extra tab for the attachment anymore. I switched "attachment auto-view" off in the workspace menu but the tabs are still there. Is there any way to get rid of them?

Offtopic: I have used The Bat since v1.x and I have to say that I am not very happy with v10.x and the direction things are going... I think, the development should focus more on solid performance for power users instead of features that do not really approve the usability for most users after all. The Bat should be an email client and not some weird all-in-one-organizer.

Yes, you can. Right click in the attachments and uncheck attachment auto-preview.

Thanks, that works! It's so much faster without the preview. It's possible that the loading of the preview also gets the virus scan (Defender) involved, that might add to the loading time of the emails. I'm running the system on SSDs with an i9 and 32Gb of RAM and the preview still added 5+ secs for opening an email with PDFs/Office files as attachment in plaintext view (not opening the tab with the preview). That's quite surprising, I'm not used to delays with any application on this system.

big files renders not so fast. not bigs - renders fast and you don't need to watch them in additional applications. Your TB! - Your choice

I do prefer to use it internal viewer, it shorts my working time (rare have it some big PDFs and xls/doc).

But it already froze when I selected an email (tab with plaintext view), not specifically the preview tab.

That box in the screenshot always stayed for a few seconds when The Bat froze, could not even press cancel:

Felt very strange since The Bat is usually lightning fast. :)

I would bet that this is related to the CEF component. There's an option in Options/Preferences/General, "Run CEF Browser in a single process", that would likely fix this. It would also disable the preview of PDF files, but apparently that's not a concern here.

10-4-0-6 or 4-0-1 shows PDF preview with new internal viewer algorithm even if CEF disabled. That fxed.
