OAuth2 - still not solved the problem. is there a chance to fix it or do I have to change the program?

I work at a university where it supports several O365 mailboxes. Not a day goes by that a BAT doesn't ask me to reauthorize my account. I'll change networks or switch VPNs - requesting login and OATH code. Wish it still worked. But regularly I do not have a login window and the log I have says:
.
!"02.10.2024, 01:00:02: IMAP - Error when selecting ‘INBOX’ folder, server response: “ 4 BAD User is authenticated but not connected.”

And that's the end of it, sometimes half an hour of trying to manually edit the email or the server to force a login window (maybe it works and maybe it doesn't).  I have already written with 10 messages to help, some temporary solutions are given to me and nada not a concrete solution to the problem of MANY O356 accounts. It's impossible to work like this :( It's been going on for months and there's not even any information as to whether this will be fixed.

At the same time, on the outlook not once such a problem has appeared.

I'd venture a guess that your problem cannot be reproduced outside of your particular networking environment. Have you offered the Ritlabs folks to create a mail account for them on your servers for testing purposes?

Well, that shouldn't come as a surprise and it's not because Outlook is so great! :-D

Unfortunately, I can not create test accounts as a user because a) I do not have the rights to do so b) this is not allowed by the educational license that the university has because the account gives access to a number of freeware services (like whole o365)
In addition, I sent logs or all the information I was asked about

And I did not write this praising Outlook, rather noting that it is not a network problem, because whether I connect from home or from the university - I still connect to outlook.office365.com and the errors are just as frequent at the university or outside of it

Same problem November 2024

In February 2025, the problem is still present - I have to authorize myself in OAuth2 in Microsoft 3 times a day, on different accounts, and I am going crazy, reaching the decision to leave the beloved program that I have been using for over 20 years. Is there any chance that this problem will be addressed? Personally, I think the problem is that I have several emails in the same domain and there is a problem with managing these credentials. Because sometimes one account suddenly seems to authorize the key of the other. I have written to technical support many times but there is still no solution.

Have you tried booting your PC in Windows' "Safe mode with Networking" mode, and running The Bat with Admin rights?

Do your accounts at this provider all have the same access privileges?

I don't really know what safe mode is - the bat works. I'm even able to connect multiple accounts. And they work. But for some unknown reason, every day, every few days, or sometimes several times a day, a window suddenly pops up and I have to re-authorize OAuth. You have to log in again, 2FA, and it can drive you crazy. In addition, sometimes it happens that everything works and suddenly one of the accounts stops working. I get in the logs

03.04.2024, 23:46:44: IMAP - Authorization (user: “mail@XXXl”, method: “XOAUTH2”)....

03.04.2024, 23:46:47: IMAP - Authentication on IMAP server was successful, server message: “AUTHENTICATE completed.”

!"03.04.2024, 23:46:47: IMAP - Error when selecting ‘INBOX’ folder, server response: ” 4 BAD User is authenticated but not connected.”

03.04.2024, 23:46:52: IMAP - Disconnected.

And what's worst, I can't force it to authorize again. The authorization window appears for half a second and then suddenly disappears. I can't force it to enter the correct password again. Hence my assumption that BAT is wrong with this authorization data and suddenly one of the accounts starts to take over data from another. Either way, sometimes I have to play around with the settings, change emails or domains to force it to ask for the data again. And sometimes, after 3 days, it does ask. Deleting all the data is not a solution because I don't want to waste 15 minutes authorizing 15 accounts.

I have the same 15 accounts on my tablet (Android) and nothing has ever gone wrong for a year.

It boots Windows without running any third party applications, so that you can exclude them as a possible cause. See Google for instructions.

It's nothing permanent -- in the next session you can boot your PC as usual again and all your 3d party start-up apps will be functional again.

The "User is authenticated but not connected" error can occur with a variety of mail clients. Some people have solved it by running their mail client with Admin rights (hence my suggestion...). Others (Thunderbird users) have solved it by disabling IPv6 on their system. That's something else that I would try.

Are you using The Bat v11.3? That version introduced some OAUTH related improvements, but I don't know if they're relevant to your problem.
