In the trial version moving messages does not work?

Hello everyone,

I have installed the trial version and testing it.

I have imported some of my old messages from Eudora using the "From UNIX-mailboxes" option (oddly enough the Mailbox Import Wizard was not able to see my Eudora .MBX / .TOC files).

All my old messages were imported and landed in the Trash folder.

When trying to move them to the Inbox, they disappear from the list in Trash but DO NOT appear in Inbox (the total number of messages does not change, so they apparently are not deleted).

I wonder if it is due to a) being the trial version, or b) to the fact they are coming from Trash, or c) to the way they were imported, or d) if it is a bug someone else has experienced before.

Thanks!

Sounds like a refresh thing to me, try right-clicking on the Inbox folder and selecting Refresh.

Also, if there are many messages it may take a while for all of them to be properly copied.

Thanks - that is what I also thought, but refreshing does not show any message in the Inbox.

I do not have many messages (I am testing The Bat before committing to using it) - just 28 emails.

I tried moving 27 of them to the Inbox. They got "deleted" from their current folder (which is the Trash folder) but did not appear in the Inbox.

Once moving back focus from Inbox to Trash, I found them all back there. So it looks like they are NOT moving, just temporarily disappear from the initial folder.

Strange, I've been moving accidentally deleted messages out of the Trash folder since forever without any problems. Maybe they are marked as "parked"? That would make it more difficult. Also, try copying them (not moving): select messages, right click, "Messages" -> "Copy to Folder..."

It's been a while since I imported anything, but perhaps the currently selected folder is the destination? Try selecting the Inbox in the folder tree, and then importing.

Is this an IMAP account?

Well, since my goal was to test if I could successfully import old messages from Eudora, I did not bother setting up the account, so I am not checking emails (yet).

When I open the information tab I see it has IMAP v4 as the default incoming mail protocol. As a matter of fact I read in the lower bar "IMAP - TLS handshake failure. The server host name does not match the certificate."

I wonder if this is the reason why I am not able to move messages from Trash to Inbox.

After testing some more I also discovered that:

a) I can move my old messages from Trash to Sent or Outbox

b) if I create a new folder, The Bat freezes and I have to kill it with Task Manager

Ah, therein lies the problem, you should really set up the IMAP account properly in TB. (Sorry, I assumed POP3 since it is my default mode of operation.) Messages will then be synced between TB and the server. You will need to import only messages from Eudora folders that weren't synced with the IMAP server (if any). That may be the Outbox, Sent Messages, some local folders... Depending how you had Eudora set up.

Once you set up an account in TB to properly connect to the IMAP server, folders and behavior may need a little setting up in TB as well, see:
Account -> Properties -> Mail Management
Account -> Properties -> Mail Management -> IMAP Fine-Tune
Account -> IMAP Commands -> Manage IMAP folders
