View mode problems in 12.1?, Can't make view mode stick; threads not expanding automatically

Hi - are others having problems with mailbox view modes? I'm getting occasional crashes when trying to adjust the modes, whether through changing what message list column fields and their order, or in creating or editing view modes. Messages either aren't threaded, or when they are, the threads aren't expanded, even when I'm clicking "expand all threads" as part of a view mode. I also can't seem to retitle new view modes.

I haven't fiddled with view modes in a major way recently, except to widen the columns, as they suddenly shrunk in width after updating to a recent version.

I remember the whole view mode adjustment experience being bit brittle when I did a major one a couple of years ago, but not as seriously as you described. Multiple little things not working as expected, but I forgot most of the details. One thing I had in common with you: automatic expansion of threads would lock up TB for folders with many messages, so I kept that disabled. In my case it was a "Conversations" virtual folder with over 100000 messages.

Now that I have the view modes configured the way I want them, I avoid touching them. I told TB to "Ignore changes" in Options.

Thanks. I seem to have gotten my desired view to stick now.

I'm also finding that ctrl-A does not sel ect all in the message header field, and that the delete key sometimes doesn't do anything when trying to delete a message fr om a folder.

I never experienced anything like that. Ctrl+A works normally for me in header fields (in the classic preview pane). So does the delete key.

Second thoughts regarding the delete key:

1. Make sure this happens only in TB and not in other programs. It could be a hardware thing. For example, I'm having quarrels with the down arrow key on my laptop, as it sometimes registers as PgDn even when Fn is not pressed. But that happens everywhere, not just TB. The same could be said for Ctrl+A.

2. Folder -> Maintenance Center... You could do a Check Integrity/Repair, but back up everything first, just in case.

Yep, I too have this bug. Write from your side to support about it.

Are you use it v12.1?

Yes, 64-bit NAU on Windows 10 22H2.

There appears to be a fix for the Ctrl+A issue in the latest beta v12.1.0.3: https://www.batboard.net/thread/16415-the-bat-12-1-0-3-beta-msi/

(The devs seem to be on a roll with fixing bugs recently.)
